Checked
None of the seven SP model years verified, which needs a check against the maker's own document, which the row names, and an engine figure; all seven name a source below.

Sea-Doo numbers are the ones the sport names each engine by, and can differ from the measured size: a 787 measures 781.6, a 947 measures 951.

1991 587 Carburettor Two-stroke Sit-down Grab handle added, which made reboarding materially easier. Source 1

1996 587 Carburettor Two-stroke Sit-down BRP's own Sea-Doo parts catalogue for the US lists this machine for 1996 as "SP" under the SP family. Source 2
1997 587 Carburettor Two-stroke Sit-down BRP's own Sea-Doo parts catalogue for the US lists this machine for 1997 as "SP" under the SP/SPX family. BRP's Operator's Guide for the 1997 SP gives its dimensions as 100 x 41.5 x 36.2 inches. The 587 here is unsourced and is contested: the shop's SP / SPX record said Rotax 717, also without a source. As of 2026-10-07 no held document states this year's SP engine (searched: this row's BRP parts-catalogue entry, and the Rotax engine table in section 8, which places the 587 in the 1988 to 1992 SP and the 717 in other 1995 on models).
