Checked
One of five WaveBlaster model years verified, which needs a check against the maker's own document, which the row names, and an engine figure; all five name a source below.

Some Yamaha numbers are measured sizes rather than the number in the model name: a GP760 is held as 753, a GP1200R as 1131, a GP1300R as 1296. None of these figures has been checked against a Yamaha document unless a cited source states it.

Not your year? For other WaveBlaster years: WaveBlaster II, 1996 to 1998.

Model year Engine, as the records hold it Fuel system Strokes Hull type What the record says Source
1993 701 Carburettor Two-stroke Sit-down Single-seat sit-down on the 701. Shares an engine family with the SuperJet, which is why 701 parts often cross over. Sold in Japan as the MJ-700TZ, where Yamaha's brand is Marine Jet rather than WaveRunner. What that source does not settle: it is Yamaha's Japanese release year for the MJ-700TZ, and no Yamaha document giving a model year for the export WaveBlaster was found. Yamaha's current WaveBlaster page refers to the original only as a nineties cult favourite and gives no dates. The displacement below is not covered by that source either, which is why this row is still unverified. Japanese media citing Yamaha give the TZ as 2,430mm long, 880mm wide, 149kg dry and 63ps, which is secondary and worth confirming before it is used for anything that matters. Source 1

Nothing recorded from 1997 to 2026
2027 verified 1049 (changed from 1996) Fuel injection (changed from 1996) Four-stroke (changed from 1996) Sit-down TR-1 High Output, three cylinders, 110 hp, driving a 144mm pump. VARTM composite hull, 99 by 38.6 inches, 425 lb dry, with no sponsons so the hull rolls inward and the rider's weight turns it. Target top speed in the mid fifties, and an L-MODE setting that caps output at about 85 percent for novices. MSRP 11,999 US dollars, dealers from the first quarter of 2027. Yamaha's own model code is WB1050A. The 144mm pump is the same diameter the 2021-onward SuperJet uses, which is where impeller fitment should start. Source 5
