The eras this page's records fall in are drawn solid; the others are hollow.

How we know: Each bar runs the years printed on that era's panel, and which eras a page falls in is the archive's grouping of its records, not the length of anyone's career.

Organising the sport

2005 · Confirmed

The IJSBA's post of 29 April 2005, announcing the board elected for 2005, thanks the members who had served on its transition committee until then and names Francisco Pita from Portugal among the ten. The IJSBA's post of 23 January 2004 says a transition committee of representatives from ten nations, Portugal among them, was approved on 20 January 2004 to take on the board's responsibilities; it names no member, and neither post says when he joined.

2006 · Confirmed

The IJSBA's notice of 3 July 2006 names Francisco Pita (Portugal) as one of three affiliates elected to serve on its 2006 board of directors, and says the 2006-2007 board would convene on 1 August 2006 for one calendar year.

2004 · Likely

The IJSBA's affiliates directory page captured on 11 April 2004 lists "Attn: Francisco Pita, Pres." under Portugal for the FPJS (Federacao Portuguesa de Jet Ski). Reading him as the board member of Portugal named in the IJSBA's posts rests on the name and the country, and is the archive's inference.

2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 · Likely

The directory of international affiliates in the IJSBA's rule books lists him under Portugal for the Federacao Portuguesa de Jet Ski (FPJS): as "Attn: Francisco Pita", with no post, in 2002, and as "Attn: Francisco Pita, Pres." in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The 2014 book and the draft 2015 book print "Attn: contact IJSBA" for the FPJS. Reading the directory's Francisco Pita as the board member of Portugal named in the IJSBA's posts rests on the name and the country, and is the archive's inference.

What the archive has not read (1)

  • No document of the Portuguese federation itself is held, and none says when his FPJS post began or ended (searched the archive's mirror and the research cache for Pita, 2026-10-09). The IJSBA's books of 2006 and 2007 and the draft of 2009 also list him, in captures the archive has not copied.

  • IJSBA post affiliate elections 2006 (web.archive.org): IJSBA Announces the results of the 2006 Affiliate Elections (IJSBA news post dated July 3rd, 2006, Wayback capture of 23 September 2020), International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2006-07-03; sanctioning body, high. The association's own notice naming the three affiliates elected to its 2006 board, each by person and country (lines 13 to 15), and saying the 2006-2007 board would convene on 1 August 2006 for one calendar year. High for the election result. Like the association's other news posts it was re-imported into the site in December 2012, so its byline prints a 2012 record stamp beside the post's own date of 3 July 2006.
  • IJSBA post new board 2005 (web.archive.org): New IJSBA Board of Directors Announced (IJSBA news post dated 29 April 2005, Wayback capture of 19 September 2020), International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2005-04-29; sanctioning body, high. The association's own list of the directors elected to serve on its board for 2005, each with the member group represented and a country, and its thanks by name and country to the ten members who had served on the transition committee. It quotes the managing director. High for whom the association names in each post. The year 2005 is printed in the text.
  • IJSBA post board restructure 2004 (web.archive.org): IJSBA Board Restructure (IJSBA news post with the dateline January 23, 2004, Wayback capture of 20 September 2020), International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2004-01-23; sanctioning body, high. The association's own release on its re-organisation. It says the association had been run by a board of manufacturer members only, that an IJSBA Transition Committee was approved on 20 January 2004 and assumed the board's responsibilities, that the committee's members were representatives of 10 nations (it lists the nations, not the people), and which member groups would make up the future board. It also says the association was evaluating applications to take on the responsibility of United States affiliate, including a proposal from Patrick Mell on behalf of the American Power Boat Association. High for what the association says about its own structure. It names no committee member; the members are named in the post of 29 April 2005 (ijsba-new-board-2005). The held excerpt leaves out the paragraphs on memberships, the World Finals, the rule book and the website.
  • IJSBA affiliates directory 2004 (web.archive.org): IJSBA International Affiliates (ijsba.com directory page, Wayback capture of 11 April 2004), International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2004-04-11; sanctioning body, high. The association's directory of its international affiliates as captured on 11 April 2004. The held excerpt keeps the Belgium entries (EJSBA, European Jet Sports Boating Association, and BJSBA, both "Attn: Yves Van Heers"), the New Zealand entry (NZJSBA, "Attn: Linda Mellor"), and the Portugal (FPJS, "Attn: Francisco Pita, Pres.") and Serbia and Montenegro (JSSSCG, "Attn: Veljko Sukalo, Pres.") entries. High for the listing. Most Attn lines name a contact and print no post; the Portugal and Serbia and Montenegro lines print one. Addresses, telephone, fax, web and email lines are removed.
  • 2002 rule book (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2002 Official Competition Rule Book, International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2002; sanctioning body, high. The complete 2002 book in 25 sections, the oldest full IJSBA rule book held here, served from a Norwegian club's document server and captured by the Wayback Machine. Four numbered technical parts (Stock, Limited, Superstock, Modified), three divisions, the 500 and 200 unit homologation figures, and the United States class list.
  • IJSBA 2008 rule book affiliate directory (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2008 Official Competition Rulebook, section 23.1 Affiliate Directory (PDF on ijsba.com, Wayback capture of 17 July 2011), International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2008; sanctioning body, high. The association's 2008 book, read for its directory of international affiliates only. Each entry gives the country, the body and an Attn line, which for some bodies prints a post after the name: "Anibal Aliaga Swidin, Pres." for Peru (line 25) and "Francisco Pita, Pres." for Portugal (line 31); New Zealand's line prints a name with no post (line 19). High for the listing in the year of the book. A listing can outlast a post, so it dates the post only to the book's year. Addresses and telephone lines are not copied.
  • 2010 rule book (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2010 Official Competition Rule Book, International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2010; sanctioning body, high. The complete 2010 book, kept by the Czech affiliate after IJSBA removed it. Part 8 is headed Open Class with Superstock as an addendum; the Stock part carries the Lites and class naming addenda; part 4 prints the 500 unit figure without a Ski exception and the 100 unit route below it; the appendix adds Special Production homologation below 100 units.
  • 2011 rule book (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2011 Official Competition Rule Book, International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2011; sanctioning body, high. The complete 2011 book from the Czech affiliate's server. Repeats the 2010 Lites addendum (85 and 220 horsepower) and the class naming addendum, and its competition classes appendix still prints 500 (200 for Ski Division) while its part 4 prints 500 flat.
  • 2012 rule book (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2012 Official Competition Rule Book, International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2012; sanctioning body, high. The complete 2012 book. Its Lites addendum redefines Runabout Lites as four-stroke naturally aspirated Stock runabouts under 2000cc, and its Ski sponson rule is dated to itself, as of 2012, for the four-sponson allowance on Lites-eligible Ski.
  • 2014 rule book (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2014 Official Competition Rule Book, International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2014; sanctioning body, high. The complete 2014 book. Runabout Lites is renamed Runabout Rec Lites in the addendum, and the class list adds Vintage Ski (JS type hulls only, 550cc maximum), Sport GP and Runabout 1000 Superstock.
  • IJSBA 2015 draft rule book directory (web.archive.org): IJSBA 2015 Official Competition Rulebook, draft posted on ijsba.com in January 2015, section 23.1 Affiliate Directory (Wayback capture of 7 December 2022), International Jet Sports Boating Association, 2015-01; sanctioning body, high. The draft 2015 book as the association posted it in January 2015, read for its directory of international affiliates only. It prints "Lisa Dermott, President" for New Zealand (line 18) and "Anibal Aliaga Swidin, Pres." for Peru (line 23); Portugal's entry prints "Attn: contact IJSBA". It is not the draft held as ijsba-2015-rulebook-draft, whose directory section says to see the directory on the association's home page. (as IJSBA 2008 rule book affiliate directory above)
