How we know: Each bar runs the years printed on that era's panel, and which eras a page falls in is the archive's grouping of its records, not the length of anyone's career.

Organising the sport

2002, 2004 and 2010 · Confirmed

The UIM lists Luca Filiberti of Italy as a Member of its International Aquabike Commission on its page on the commission last updated in 2002 (printed 11/10/02), on the same page as updated on 5 July 2004, and in its yearbook published in February 2010. The page says the commission was established to bring together international sporting and commercial interests, administer the calendar and propose ecologically sound developments for aquabike racing.

2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026 · Confirmed

The UIM lists him as Chairman of its Aquabike Committee, for Italy, in its yearbooks published in June 2017 and May 2019, in its rosters with the status 8 April 2021, 23 October 2022 for the council and 14 March 2023 for the committees, and 13 October 2025, and in its yearbook published in June 2026. The 2019 yearbook's committee list prints his post as President and its council list as Aquabike Chairman. 2005 · Likely

The IJSBA's post of 29 April 2005 announcing its board for 2005 thanks, by name and country, the members who had served on its transition committee until then, among them Luca Filiberti from Italy. The IJSBA's 2002 rule book also lists the Italian federation, the Federazione Italiana Motonautica (FIM), with the attention line Luca Filiberti in its directory of affiliates, and prints no post for him. Reading him in both as the UIM's officer of the same name rests on the name and the country, and is the archive's inference.

What the archive has not read (1)

  • No held document says when he became the Aquabike Committee's chairman: the UIM yearbook of February 2010 lists another person as chairman of the commission, and the yearbook of June 2017 is the first held document that lists him in the post, and none names him acting as the UIM's commissioner at a particular event (searched the archive's mirror and the research cache for Filiberti, 2026-10-09).
